Justin needs more storage in his garage. We could not find any more space until we looked up. We hung shelves from the ceiling. Justin's wife did not want to look at ugly framing material as the finished product. We finished the bottoms or the ceiling with a white beadboard material, like a porch ceiling would have. The edges we added small crown molding to it for a good looking finish. Justin's wife is now happy. A happy wife is a happy life. The area of storage that we added was two floating platforms that are 4 foot by 8 foot. The wall-hung shelves was 2 foot deep by 24 foot long. WE TRULY ADDED MORE STORAGE SPACE.

In 2017 there was a bad windstorm that caused the steeple to be blown off of Come As You Are Bible Fellowship Church. Before reinstalling the steeple, we refinished the fiberglass around the sphere where a crack had been made. We also rebuilt the internal structure for the steeple to rest on. Once we got the steeple back in place it was time to secure it. We bolted the steeple into the base and adhered the two together with fiberglass.

Job Stories From Anne Arundel County, MD
Kitchen Wall Removal

The Redd family in Millersville Maryland own a home that featured an enclosed Kitchen with a serving window, which opened to their dining room. The Redd's thought it would be more spacious to have the wall removed altogether. After removing the wall, the home seems to be more open and spacious for sure and the family couldn't be happier with the finished project that was made possible by the Northern Craft team, serving Millersville Maryland.

Conversion of an unfinished basement with 1/2 bath to finished basement with full bath

The Bennett family has been a long-time client of Northerncraft and has had several projects completed on their home over the years. In the past, we have done their roofing, windows, and decking. For this particular project, the homeowner wanted to accommodate a live-in nurse so that she may remain in her home while receiving her care. Therefore, her existing 1/2 bathroom and unfinished basement must be updated to a finished basement with a full bathroom to accommodate her nurse's living needs. This project was recently finished and the homeowner was pleased with the solution Northerncraft was able to provide.

Replaced wood railing

Lorraine was tired of painting her wood railing.  We replaced it with maintenance-free products.

Replacement windows

Sharon wanted to replace her windows to increase the equity of her home. We replaced the windows with All sides windows, now she has a warm home in the winter and a cooler home in the summer.

Master bath reno

Jill and her husband hired us a year and a half ago to update her kitchen and had asked us back to renovate their master bathroom. She really wanted a free-standing tub, and his main request was a stone and glass shower combo.

Master bathroom expansion

This family really wanted a larger master bathroom, so they decided to expand into the guest room across the hall. We were able to give them a free-standing tub, a large walk-in shower, and a ton of counter space with lots of storage. A really cool feature in this bathroom is the vanity mirrors that have an LED ring light built in.

Studio sunroom with 4 track window system

Nate really wanted a mancave where he and his friends could play poker and smoke cigars without his wife having to deal with the cigar smoke. We built a studio sunroom off the back of their house with a 4-track window system to allow for optimal airflow and ventilation.

Wall removal between formal living room and the Den

This family wanted the wall removed between their living room and the den. Our client did not want to see the beam that was going to bear the weight that the wall was holding. We were able to install the beam flush with the ceiling. We patched the floors and walls and cut the same molding to fit the new space.

Wall removal between kitchen and dining room

Elizabeth was tired of cooking in a cramped kitchen and not being able to be a part of family discussions outside of the kitchen. We removed the wall between the kitchen and the dining room giving her and her family an open space. We were able to match the existing hardwood floor perfectly and we even found the exact same crown molding.

Kitchen and bathroom renovation

This family was happy with the layout of their existing kitchen and hall bathroom, but they wanted everything updated and brighter. We added new floors, cabinets, countertops, and appliances. The bathroom got new floors, a new shower, lighting fixtures, and a fresh coat of paint.

Screened in porch built over existing deck

John really wanted a screened-in porch but wasn't sure if one could be built on his existing deck. For years the family had wanted to spend more time outside without being bitten up by bugs. We used maintenance-free materials to help limit the amount of work needed to be down each year. The screened-in porch has vaulted ceilings and two ceiling fans to help keep the breeze going. Luckily, we were able to match the shingles on the roof over the screened-in porch to the existing shingles on the house.

Screened in porch to Sunroom

This family spent so much time on their screened-in porch, but they wanted to be able to better utilize it throughout the year. Their biggest thing was that on nice days they still wanted optimal airflow, so we installed a 4-track window system all the way around the room.

Back deck facelift

Our client Sharon was having an issue with water leaking into her home which was caused by not having a proper seal between the decking and the home. We went in with commercial rubber roofing which is extremely sticky on one side and waterproof on the other between the foundation of the house and the band board of the deck and up behind the siding. This was our first job after the start of covid and we could have been more appreciative

TREX decking over concrete stoop

Ashley and her family never liked how small their front porch was, so they decided it was time to create a larger front porch. Another thing Ashley wasn't really a big fan of was weeding the front garden. She wanted the porch to cover the existing garden space and eliminate the task of weeding the garden.

Waterfront window replacement

Our clients had their windows replaced a few years ago and were already having issues with the hardware breaking and water coming in. The windows installed were not meant to be near the water. The internal hardware was not made of stainless steel or aluminum causing it to rust and break.

Deck facelift

Our clients disliked having to repaint their deck every couple of years. We went over different materials, so they knew what required to least amount of maintenance and decided on TREX decking. They also weren't happy with how the plastic panels along the railing began to fog over, obstructing the view of the water from upstairs. We replaced the plastic panels with metal wiring for a clean look with no obstructions to the view.

Two-story Addition

This amazing family loved their home but wanted more space to relax and enjoy themselves. We built a two-story addition giving them a sunroom off of the kitchen upstairs and a billiards/ game room downstairs. They truly couldn't have been happier with the results.

Front Portico Addition

Our clients loved their family home but wanted the entrance to make a statement. By adding a high-peaked portico, we were able to achieve just that. The portico changed the entire look of this split foyer home.

Dream Kitchen Renovation

What started out as a carport was then renovated into a sunroom and is now being converted into our client's dream kitchen. They love their home so much but needed a larger kitchen, so we combined the sunroom and existing kitchen to give them just that. We were also able to raise the ceilings and installed 3 beautiful beams.

Trex decking over deteriorating steps

The front porch of our client's home was beginning to deteriorate after years of weather exposure. To make the steps safer we built a new porch right over the top of the old one. We used TREX decking so that it would be maintenance-free and keep its curb appeal for years to come.

Full Kitchen Reno

This amazing family really wanted a fresher look and more cabinet space in their kitchen. We closed off a couple of walls allowing for a full U-shaped kitchen. One of my favorite things about this kitchen (aside from the dragon scale backsplash) is the mosaic rose behind the stove to symbolize the homeowner's mother. They were very pleased that we were able to set up a temporary kitchen for them while we worked on creating their dream one.

Kitchen update

After getting remarried our client and his new wife wanted to renovate the old kitchen. We took down a couple of walls and added double doors leading to the new fireplace and the dining room. After removing the wall to allow for the double doors we replaced the old brick fireplace with a 3-sided stone fireplace. The floors are absolutely amazing. They are made up of Natural Oak with a Brazilian Cherry border.

Tree House

While working on one of our client's homes a few years ago we were asked if we could build a tree house in their backyard for their kids. We made sure the steps were able to accommodate their youngest and oldest to climb. The kids were happy with their new play space and mom and dad won the best parent's award.

Deck Update

Over 24 years ago we built the existing deck out of wood and now Sam is looking for something that requires a little less maintenance. We updated the deck using plastic so there is little effort needed to keep it looking new. One thing Sam did not want to lose was the raised paneling along the bottom of the deck. It really adds a special touch.

Screened in porch converted to Sunroom

Our clients used their screened in porch all summer long but wanted to be able to utilize the space year-round. We insulated, rewired and finished the existing porch area. To ensure there was as much light was possible, we added recessed lights along the ceiling. In order to give to space a fully finished look we removed the siding from inside the porch/ sunroom and replaced it with sheetrock. I think my favorite feature is the doggy door.

Shower update

The shower pan in our client's master bathroom shower was flaking. Even after having it resealed, the shower pan just kept peeling. So, our client decided to just redo the shower completely and take the new tile all the way up to the ceiling. We also added a little niche in the shower wall to store soaps.

Home Remodeling | Office Update - Built-in Shelving

The office space in our client's new home was completely bare. She knew she wanted a lot of storage space. We decided to build built-in shelving along the entirety of the back wall. Aside from just wanting to add storage to the space she also wanted to add character, to help achieve this we installed a craftsman style wainscotting around the whole room. The cherry on top of the new office space is the sliding library ladder.

Kitchen Update

After moving into her new home our client wanted to personalize her kitchen space. She wanted to add a backsplash that made a statement and ended up finding a beautiful metallic copper subway style tile. We also added a pop of color to the space by painting the kitchen island a beautiful shade of blue that compliments the new color in her office space(https://tinyurl.com/officereno).

Roof Upgrade and 4 Track Window Installation

Our clients loved using their screened-in porch during the summer but wanted to utilize the space year-round. When it came time to replace their roof, they decided it was time to upgrade the screened-in porch. We installed a 4-track window system. Some of the biggest perks of a 4-track window system are that they’re shatterproof, have amazing ventilation, and are a very affordable option for expanding your living space. Another upgrade they wanted to make to their home was to extend the roof to cover the second-story porch. What is something you’ve been wanting to change about your home?
